The Amatrol T5554 Analytic Process Control System is a work station specifically designed to train students and professionals, with a hands-on approach on monitoring and contorlling chemical processes, which are extremely important in modern industries, such as pharmaceutical, refineries, breweries, and food companies (AMATROL 2014). The advantages of using this training tool are the following:
Figure 1, presented on the right, corresponds to the aforementioned Amatrol T5554. All the components are visible, including the acid solution and basic solution tanks, mixing tank, pump, pH sensor, and graphic display. Figure 2 and Figure 3 show the station found on our laboratory at ITESM CEM, and the tanks, pump, agitator, speed control wheel and pH sensor can be appreciated. Figure 4 shows the panel where the control systems, Operator Interface, Display, and Controller consoles are located. |
The work station available in the laboratory for this project is the same as the one pictured above. However, in the lower left part there are some valves that were replaced by a continuos pipe. This change has been documented in the P&I Diagram shown on the "System Description" tab of our website.
The rest of the components of the system are exactly the same as those shown on Figure 1.
